BABEL-Tutti i colori dell’Italia

Year: 2010

BABEL – Tutti i colori dell’Italia - launched on 8 November 2010 and is the first TV channel for “new italians” – people of non-Italian origin living in Italy. Babel is an open window on the traditions, stories and personalities of the people living in a country that is rapidly changing.

Babel’s program scheduling combines italian produced edutainment shows to the entertainment products purchased from the target regions. Italian productions include Italian language and cuisine courses, information on Italian laws and the Constitution, updates on cultural events and international artists, local personalities and community leaders interviews, stories of foreigners who have succeeded in Italy, and those of young foreigners involved in music, sports and the arts. Acquired programming from the target countries includes TV shows, documentaries, docu-reality formats, and other top-shows that often follow popular international TV formats.

Babel’s target audience is the growing community of foreigners living in Italy and weekday prime time scheduling is dedicated to a specific region’s stories, people and themes – South America (Monday), Europe 27 (Tuesday), Asia (Wednesday), Europe Extra (Thursday), Africa (Friday). During the weekend Babel programming is dedicated to the “Best of the week” with two original prime time appointments, Babzine Cult on Saturday and Edizione Limitata (Limited Edition) on Sunday, a container for the channel’s special projects.

Babel is also an online community, a virtual place where people can meet, exchange ideas, discover and share stories and videos of common interest, get informed on legal, political, and social issues. Babel’s online presence is a laboratory to promote synergy amongst the participants.

Babel is available in Sky Italia’s entertainment package on Channel 141.
